RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation Adults)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process whereby adults enter the Catholic Church. RCIA classes are held weekly and over the course of several months; those who attend the RCIA classes are educated on what the Catholic Church believes and are given the opportunity to ask question about those beliefs. 

Just because you start RCIA, doesn't mean you are committed to finish. If you are merely curious about what Catholicism is, please feel free to come. All are welcome.

• RCIA is required for individuals entering the Catholic faith, and for adults who have not been Baptized or Confirmed or have not made their first Communion.
• If you know someone who may be interested in joining our faith or just wants to know about it, please contact the church office and we will get in touch with them.
•  RCIA is also very helpful for practicing Catholics who would like to refresh or deepen their faith or those who would just like to learn more about our faith - this wonderful, rich, beautiful faith that we practice.
• How well do you think you know your Catholic faith? How long has it been since you studied it in some way? Was it just what you learned from your parents? Or maybe CCD classes when you were in Grammar school?
• Are you able to instruct your children (or grandchildren) about our faith? You know, God expects you to be able to do this.
• How do you respond to someone (or maybe even your child) who asks you something like this -
  • Why would a good God allow sin and suffering in the world?
  • Why do you Catholics worship Mary? (We don’t, but can you explain?)
  • Why does it matter what church I go to? (It really does! Can you explain why?)
  • Why am I here? What’s the meaning of all this? Is my existence just an accident? (It certainly is not – can you explain this to a teenager?)
  • Does God have a job for me? – A job that only I can do. – A job that he created me to do.
  • What really happens when I die? (can you answer this? Do you know?)
• What really happens at Mass? – did you know that at each Mass we pray with the angels and saints in heaven. Did you know that at each Mass we are brought to Calvary and to the Resurrection? I mean really brought there.

• Why do we need Sacraments? How many are there? What do they do?
• Is God really interested in what we do during the day? How often do you really think of God?
• Did you realize you can turn your daily duties into prayers? How?
• Do you realize how much you depend on God?
• Do you realize how much God loves you? Do you have any idea! (Maybe this is the most important topic to discuss with the people in our lives and to meditate on.)
• Here are some other questions and areas we will cover:
  • Why is there evil in the world?
  • Grace, – What is grace? How important is Grace? Do we need Grace? –
    what are the different kinds of Grace.
  • Angels, are there really angels? Has the Father assigned a specific Guardian angel to each of us to work 24/7 to lead us back to Him? Do you ever talk with this angel? Do you thank him?
  • And sin. We will discuss sin. What is sin? How do I know if I am right with God? How do I examine my conscience?
  • The many forms and types of prayer.
